Dr. Akram Sannaa
Dr. Sannaa’s career in dentistry began at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. His dedication to improving oral health had roots in his involvement with public health research at Harvard School of Public Health prior to dental school.
His recognition and achievements have been constants in his career, he was honored with the esteemed International College of Dentists Leadership Award, along with the prestigious Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine High Achievement Award. A firm believer in a multi-specialty approach, Dr. Sannaa’s prowess encompasses root canals (attended a Mini Residency in state-of-the art endodontics), comprehensive dental care, implant dentistry, smile makeovers, and sleep appliances. He’s celebrated as the
Invisalign maestro and has an exceptional aptitude for soothing anxious patients, seamlessly blending his charming personality with a range of techniques. As the proud owner of the Chevy Chase Dental Center for the past
five years, Dr. Sannaa has skillfully blended his expertise, charisma, and commitment to excellence into every facet of the practice. This has resulted in a patient-centered environment that resonates with his core values, epitomized by the practice’s mission, “Dentistry with Heart.” His unwavering dedication to providing top-tier care, driven
by patient satisfaction, continuously fuels his pursuit of excellence.
Beyond the dental realm, Dr. Sannaa cherished moments with family and friends. His interests span from exploring hiking trails and camping to pursue culinary adventures. His family’s legacy of olive oil production in Syria adds a profound layer to his identity, symbolizing generations of dedication and craftsmanship passed down through time.
Here’s a fun twist: “Sannaa” means “The Makers” in Arabic, and in Italian and Spanish, “Sana” means “Health.” which is convenient because Dr. Sannaa is making healthy smiles every day. Building on the foundation of this first practice, Dr. Sannaa’s – commitment and successful approach has led to an exciting development. In 2024, the Chevy Chase Dental Center is set to open a second location in Bethesda, Maryland. This expansion reflects his desire to serve the community while offering his expertise in dentistry to a wider audience along with making a positive impact in the world of dentistry.
Dr. Sarah Deckard
Dr. Deckard is an enthusiastic and compassionate general dentistwho enjoys treating patients of all ages. Her priority has always beenproviding comprehensive, high-quality care to patients in a relaxedand comfortable atmosphere. As a patient and caring practitioner,she treats all her patients with respect and consideration.
Dr. Deckard received her Doctor of Dental Medicine from TuftsUniversity, and her bachelor’s degree from The Honors College andCollege of Arts and Sciences from Adelphi University.
Dr. Deckard was awarded the Joseph R. Evans Award for the MostDistinguished Achievement in Clinical Operative Dentistry, TuftsUniversity Tiberi Scholarship, and the Pre-Dental Mascolo Awardduring her studies.
Dr. Deckard has always had a passion for treating the whole patient.As such, Dr. Deckard has taken extensive continuing education toprovide her patients with dental care that considers the patient’soverall health. Her dedication to this end has led her to membershipswith the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the ADA, theMassachusetts and Maryland Dental Societies, and multiple dentalstudy clubs.
Dr. Deckard also achieved Alumni and Scholar Status of the DawsonAcademy for Occlusion and Complete Care Dentistry. A Dawsondentist is one who has dedicated many hours of postgraduateeducation to learn how to care for patients at the highest ethical andprofessional level, and is trained in an analysis of the TMJ (jaw joints)to help patients achieve a comfortable bite and peacefulneuromuscular system.
Most recently Dr. Deckard has completed the AMR residency at theRaphael Center for Integrative Orthodontics and Airway FocusedDentistry and is continuing her education with courses focusing onfunctional dental care.
Away from the office, she is an avid painter and prides herself on hercooking skills. She especially enjoys making her family’s traditionalItalian recipes and exploring world cuisine. Originally from New Yorkshe really enjoys the great outdoors of the DMV, swimming, andtaking hikes with her family.
Tayler Qura
Tayler is a highly skilled and compassionate Registered DentalHygienist at Chevy Chase Dental Center. Patients appreciate hergentle touch and warm personality, which make every visit acomfortable and positive experience.Tayler is passionate about staying up to date with the latesttechniques and technologies in dental hygiene. She has receivedadvanced training in the field and is committed to providing herpatients with the highest level of care.
Her skill level is admirable, and she enjoys working in anenvironment with professionals who trust and encourage her clinicalskills. She is known for her comprehensive periodontal care, usingtechniques such as air polishing to provide patients with the highestlevel of care.
She is also licensed in providing local anesthesia and nitroussedation for patients who need it, making their experience ascomfortable as possible. She is passionate about attendingcontinuing education courses to further her ability and provide thebest care possible for her patients.
Tayle’s dedication to her patients is evident in her personalizedapproach to dental hygiene. She takes the time to listen to eachpatient’s concerns or needs and develops a customized treatmentplan that is tailored to their unique situation. Her diligence andattention to detail ensure that each patient receives optimal care.
Outside of work, Tayler enjoys exploring new restaurants and culinarycreations around DC and is always on the lookout for new fashiontrends. Her patients appreciate her positive energy and friendlydemeanor, which reflect her enthusiasm for life. Tayler has twoSiblings, Brianna and Andrew who she loves dearly and considerthem her best friends.
Meg Assefa
With over a decade of experience, Megdelawit (Meg) has excelled asa practicing hygienist, bringing her unwavering commitment todental care to each patient she serves.
A proud alumna of Virginia Commonwealth University School ofDentistry, Meg holds a bachelor’s degree and a dental hygienelicense from her esteemed education. Her dedication to continuouslearning is showcased through her certifications in Invisalign® andsleep apnea treatment. Specializing in working with special needspatients, she possesses the expertise to cater to a diverse range ofneeds.
Known as our “queen of technology,” Meg is rarely seen without hertrusted intraoral camera. With a keen eye for detail, she navigatesdental technology seamlessly. Her genuine connection with people,combined with her meticulous nature, ensures that her patientsalways feel at ease.
Meg’s calming presence creates a welcoming atmosphere forpatients, making them feel right at home during their visits. Beyondthe dental chair, she’s a devoted parent to her young son anddaughter, who constantly keep her engaged. Her interests extend toenjoying stand-up comedy and giving back through volunteering ather church.
Originating from Ethiopia, where the art of coffee brewing began,Meg brings a unique cultural perspective to her work. Her dedicationto excellence, coupled with her warm spirit, defines her approach toboth dentistry and life.
